The night before Christmas
Was my childhood treat…
We’d say prayers at nine
But I never could sleep…
I heard Momma sigh,
Dad was ah’ing and ooh’ing
So I peeked through my cracked door
To see what was doin’…

At well after midnight
They were spinnin’ to firelight
Two bodies movin’ as one…
They danced like they meant it
Rejoiced at the chance,
For their yearly Halleluia dance…

Now I’m grown up and hitched
And I’ve got my own crew…
Thanks to the lady
That I’m married to…
And after our kids are all
Tucked in real tight…
We set aside “us time”
On Christmas Eve night…

At well after midnight
We’ll be spinnin’ to firelight
Two bodies movin’ as one…
We’ll dance like we mean it
Rejoice at the chance
For our yearly Halleluia Dance…

Halleluia,
And suddenly there appeared with the angel…
Halleluia,
A multitude of the heavenly host…
Halleluia,
Saying glory to God in the highest…
Halleluia,
And on earth, peace, goodwill to men…

And each Christmas at midnight
We’ll be spinnin’ to firelight
Two bodies moving as one…
We’ll dance like we mean it
Rejoice at the chance…
For a yearly Halleluia dance…
It’s a Halleluia…
Merry Christmas…
Halleluia dance…
