R. Mack Harrell - Possum Trot Road

R. Mack Harrell is an imaging endocrinology doctor by day in Boca Raton, Florida, using sound above the range of human hearing (ultrasound) to find tiny parathyroid and thyroid tumors. By night, he dials down the frequency of his sound exploration into the audible range as a Nashville Songwriter’s Association (NSAI) BMI songwriter.

He has been actively writing songs since 1999 and has had his material sung by such notable artists as Bob MacDonald, Shauna Sweeney and Dominic Flores of South Florida, Teresa James of LA, and Vickie Raye, Rachel Williams and Ron Wallace of Nashville. His songwriting has been recognized in contests across the USA and in the British Isles including a Gold Medal BMI songwriters Award for “Whiskey Reigns” in the 2013 Mid-Atlantic Song Competition and a song scholarship to Skip Ewing’s Horse and Writer Camp in 2014 for “Wishes Are Horses.” He was also honored by USA Today for his song “Oil and Water” after the tragic Deepwater Horizon oil-drilling accident in 2010.
