Aqura

He crouched by my exit on Rural Route 9
Holdin’ his cardboard sign
That said: “Hungry…will work for food”
I stopped my flatbed right there at the light
Tryin’ to do what was right
And wondering…should I intrude?
But playin’ it safe just ain’t my cup a’ tea
I rolled down the glass, and said “Brother… come ride with me”

If wishes were horses…then beggars would ride
Even when dreams and the real world collide.
Miracles happen right in front of your eyes
When wishes are horses…beggars can ride.

Soaked to the bone from yesterday’s rain
Shivering and strung out… he tried to explain
How everything…got off track
Said he straddled the broncs on the rodeo tour
Coulda been champion for sure
Till that last ride… broke his back.
Well he traded his dream for oxycodone
Seemed like the pain…never left him alone…

If wishes were horses…then cowboys would ride
Even when dreams and the real world collide.
Miracles happen right in front of your eyes
When wishes are horses…cowboys can ride.

There in that semi-truck…both of us prayed….
He tossed me the pills
As we drove away….

Yeah…wishes are horses…and we all can ride
Even when dreams and the real world collide.
Miracles happen right in front of your eyes
When wishes are horses everybody can ride…
When wishes are horses everybody can ride…
We can ride…
We all ride…
